Hello from CABLEGRAM!
CABLEGram is committed to bring you the best of CABLE. Oh, do check out our Campus Ambassador role too 😎
Hello there!
If you haven’t noticed, we’re writing to you from Substack today, please feel free to give us any feedback you may have on the reader experience (thumbs up or down?)
Readme: If this email appears in your Social/Others category, please move it to your main Inbox so that we get to say hello on a regular basis 😍 Do let us know if you have any feedback on this new approach we are adopting.
We also renamed this digital newsletter series to CABLEGram. No, it is not a rip-off from Instagram/Telegram/the times we had trouble saying ‘‘parallelogram’’ in class. The word “cablegram” is defined here:
It is also weirdly the name of a cocktail, but we won’t go into that. 🙈
Anyway….
In today's CABLEGram we want to share just one major headline with you:
TODAY'S BIG STORY: CABLE Campus Ambassadors
NEW! We are recruiting CABLE Campus Ambassadors
Since our inception in 2018, we have been hearing people say the same things over and over again:
“Why doesn’t this exist in my campus?”
“Why didn’t I hear about this from people around me?”
“Why don’t MORE people know about this?”
CABLE is run by a team of volunteers and while we have been striving to provide access to as many students we can, we found out that the best way of ensuring that as many students as possible hear about this opportunity is to have people talk about it at the student-level.
Accessing university networks from the student perspective and establishing a strong presence in universities will help increase our engagement and adoption for current and future initiatives, meaning more students have mentorship and research opportunities at their fingertips!
With that said, we are proud to announce that we will be recruiting our very first batch of CABLE Campus Ambassadors.
CABLE Campus Ambassadors are current students who promote CABLE to students in their own institution. They act as our eyes and ears on campus and are a valued extension of the CABLE Team.
What would a CABLE Campus Ambassador do?
As a CABLE Campus Ambassador, your role is to represent CABLE and assist with recruitment at your university. Being a Campus Ambassador is a voluntary role and usually requires a commitment of no more than 2 hours/week on average. You'll be provided with the CABLE Campus Communications Pack and a full suite of promotional material, but you get to decide how to use it!
Your responsibilities will include:
Sending outreach emails to university departments and student societies
Sharing our content on your personal social media/advertising in your personal networks
Bringing students from your university and personal networks into the CABLE community
Answering questions from prospective members about CABLE where possible or directing them to a committee member
Benefits of becoming a CABLE Campus Ambassador
As a Campus Ambassador you will not only join our wonderful CABLE community and help us bridge gaps in educational access, but you’ll also:
Develop your outreach and communications skills
Establish your own marketing campaigns and potentially lead your own committee
Gain crucial experience in a range of areas future employers will snap up, such as strategy, communications, people management and presentation skills
I’m interested! What do I need to do?
If this sounds like something you’ll have fun doing and learning from, we welcome you to join us today. You can view the full role description here and click the big yellow button below to sign up!
